he Ukrainian-controlled town of Krasnohorivka in Donbas has survived 40 enemy attacks overnight, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) headquarters.
The situation at night was tense, as since 18:00 local time on
Saturday, Russian proxies started actively shelling Ukrainian troops,
the ATO HQ said.
"The hottest spot was the strongholds of our troops near the town of
Krasnohorivka, which were attacked 40 times by the enemy, who used 120mm
and 82mm mortars," it said.
Donbas militants used small arms, large-caliber guns and grenade
launchers of different systems to shell Ukrainian positions near the
villages of Luhanske, Zaitseve, Pisky [near the ruined Donetsk airport],
Opytne, and the towns of Avdiyivka and Maryinka.
What is more, the enemy opened unaimed fire from grenade launchers
and large-caliber machine-guns on the villages of Mayorsk and Troyitske.
After midnight, the intensity of militant fire has somewhat declined, though the Ukrainian position in Pisky was attacked with the use of grenade launchers and small arms.
Ukrainian troops in the Luhansk sector were also under attack:
Russian proxies opened unaimed fire from an 82mm mortar on Ukrainian
positions near the village of Bohuslavske, provoking the Ukrainian side
into firing back.
The ATO HQ stresses that the Ukrainian army did not open fire in response to the attacks in the past 24 hours.
